I Heart Picture Books

The Teacher Wife

What teacher doesn't LOVE picture books!?!?!?

I know I do!!!! So I was so excited to see Lindsey host this link party over at

The Teacher Wife

Here are some of my favorites!!!

As a little girl, I remember my mom reading this to me every night. :) Still love it.

At school, I love reading aloud anything by Mo Willems!!! Especially the Piggy & Elephant series!!! Last year, I had to record myself reading one for a school project, and my favorite thing about the recording are the cute little giggles and laughter coming from the kids the entire time. I love it.

I also LOVE Giraffe's Can't Dance by Giles Andreae. Such a cute story with a wonderful message that so many of my kiddos can relate to!

This is another silly book I love for three reasons. 1. The kids always love it, without fail. 2. It's really funny. 3. There's a corgi in it! ;-)

I know this isn't a picture book, but this one is just too good to leave out. When I taught fourth grade, my all time favorite chapter book was The Tale of Desperaux by Kate DiCamillo. It's such a magical book and so well written. It's truly one of those books that you can read every year and not get tired off!

I've loved hearing about your favorite books!!!

:-)

I think I'll take a trip to Barnes & Noble now...

  3. Giraffe's Cant Dance is one of my favorites! I always read it just for fun and later for authors message. That way I get to read it twice. :) Tale of Despereaux is another favorite! I've read it aloud twice and it gets better and better each read. Great book choices!

  6. The Tale of Despereaux is one of my most favorite books! And I've done it as a read-aloud for my second graders. They've always enjoyed the "Dear Reader" remarks in the book, and I think they totally grasp the idea that every ending is not a tidy little package like they always find in Disney films. Love love love that book!

  7. I just found my old copy of Desperaux. I was going to use it as a read aloud this year. I can't wait. I already made a trip to my favorite children's book shop and have made 3 more calls to place things on hold. I am officially out of control. I love it!
