Our Dreams

Hi bloggy friends! Today was a crazy day! Not sure why....? But my kids (the boys especially) were a little squirley today. Yikes! We did finish up some Martin Luther King Jr. activities and I wanted to share them. We did a directed cut/glue type activity to create MLK. The kiddos all started out with each piece of paper, and I showed them how to cut/glue/and assemble the pieces. I always love doing this project because we complete the whole project silently! Yes, completely silent. :) The kids just have to watch and pay close attention. I always doubt they'll be able to do it, but they always pull through and it turns out to be a very peaceful time in our classroom (despite the cutting mess it makes and I think I might have an anxiety attack from the mess of little pieces of paper all. over. the. floor.) They turned out really cute:

And, as always, some don't turn out exactly as planned.....

We also did some writing about our dreams for the world. This was one of our second grade UA group's writing. Here are some of the most memorable ones:

"My dream for the world is for every single bully to be gone so no one else gets hurt." So sweet!

"My dream for the world is for everything to be made out of candy. It will be funny because it will be raining gum balls and the bars are going to be made out of tootsie rolls." Interesting....

"My dream for the world is for no homeless people and no war, no guns, no bad people, no bad parents, no bullies, no nightmares, nice people, a peace treaty, peas, no water guns, no sharks, never die, no frienemies, no enemies, and nice friends." Very insightful and interesting.... :)

And finally:

"My dream for the world is no more homework because it kills trees and trees give us oxygen." Nice try...

Have a great night!!! :)

  2. I needed to implement the quiet rule when crafting in my room! Some of my MLK's came out quiet interesting as well. ;) A couple ended up losing their eyes and ears. I adore that one of your kiddos used the term frenemies. :)
