A Little Late to the Party...

I'm a little late to Farley's May Currently because.....

This little guy decided to make an appearance a few weeks early! 

We welcomed Cade Wesley Patterson into the world on April 28th! So far, he loves eating, looking out the window while getting his diaper changed, sleeping, eating, sleeping, and hangin' out late at night. (He is not yet aware that my bedtime has been 8:00 for the last 29 years. Or that we sleep all night long ;-) I definitely see why people say it's the hardest, but most rewarding job you'll ever do! 

Even these two are exhausted from all of the late night shenanigans going on! 

Anyways... here's my Currently :)

Seriously! Go see Molly! You'll absolutely Love LoVe LOVE her! :)

And *hopefully* I'll see you soon. Maybe with school stuff. And maybe not. Who knows... ;-) 

And if you have any advice for surviving your first week with a newborn! Please- feel free! I'll take anything I can get! :)

Currently & SALE Time!!!

I CAN'T believe it's already December!!!!!!! I also can't believe I haven't done a Currently in MONTHS! 

Here's what I'm up to....

LISTENING- I always think it's funny when security system people come to our door trying to sell us a fancy schmancy security system for the house as the dogs are barking their heads off at him.... I mean, they're vicious.... 

LOVING- Yipeeeee! Only fourteen school days until Christmas break! That's only, like, 91 hours. ;-) But who's counting...?

THINKING- If you didn't know (!?!?????) TPT is having a SALE! I'm stocking up!!!!!!!! 

WANTING- I have a date with my best teaching buddies to hit up Fuddruckers for a burger and milk shake later this week. Yum!!! 

NEEDING- Our class got a beta fish today.... I've got my fingers crossed he makes it through the night... When I transferred him to his new bowl today with "purified" water he started to move really slowly... I really don't want to get to school in the morning and find a floating fish... Fingers crossed! 

TRADITION- We always watch Christmas Vacation with the family over break. It never gets old! What's your favorite Christmas movie...???

Happy January

This Christmas break has been full of linky party fun!!! And I couldn't miss out on Farley's January Currently before heading back to school tomorrow! I love reading about what everyone's up to! 

That's right! I'm a little behind really slacking on the planning for next week. It's just been too nice watching reality TV relaxing over this break!!!   

This year, I really want to do more RAK throughout the year...things I wouldn't normally do to help others out and bring a little sunshine. I'd also like to get my students involved somehow too! 

Can you guess what I'm going to do now...plan for next week!!!

Elf Fun & Happy December

Happy happy December everyone!!! That means it's time to head over to Farley's for her Currently party!!!

My mom and I hung up our Christmas lights to surprise the hubby! We actually went way up on the roof. Way up high!!! And risked our lives for those lights!!!!!!!! The neighbors were looking at us funny...like why are those two cute, dainty girls up on the roof....??? But we survived with only a few scrapes and a close call, and maybe one possible mild concussion, but we did it! And the lights looked great. See!!!!

I say looked because the next day they started falling down. And I cried. But we fixed them- don't worry! 

Our elf arrived on Monday!!! And the kids don't seem to care she's watching them are so excited! 

Here were a few of the funny things the kids said when they saw her...

"What the heck is that thing....???"

"Is it a boy? Or a girl? Maybe it's one of those people that's both!" 

Luckily she arrived the next day with a skirt on!

One little stinker friend decided it would be FUNNY to touch her today!!! The rest of us were all so worried she was going to loose her magic so we immediately wrote an email together to Santa letting him know what had happened...

Here was our response from Santa.

If I had nonbelievers before, they're believers now!!! ;-) We'll be looking out for that package from Santa tomorrow...

My RAK is Gatorade! Everyday I get to work really really early and everyday I drive by this group of men who, well, I'm not really sure what they do exactly but it looks like some type of construction. I'm going to drop off a case of Gatorade for them. So they can power up throughout the day. :)

Speaking of powering up, I'm going to need to power up for these next couple of weeks! The kids are all sorts of  elf/Christmas/Santa/gingerbread crazy!!!!!

Happy November!

Happy November!!!

I love this time of the year because it means lots of family time, cool(er) weather {it's 93 degrees out today!!!}, lots of good food, and so many things to be thankful for!!!

I like to keep the "Calm Radio" on to keep it "calm" in my classroom... (or so I like to think...) 

And all of my bloggy buds know how much I love my dogs...

The best costume I saw was our assistant superintendent dressed up as Flo from the Progressive commercials. I loved it!

August Currently & Box Tops

AAAaahhhhhhhh! It's already August!?!?!? What happened!?!?!?!?

We don't go back to school until after Labor Day, so I still technically have a month. But I know that month is going to be filled with laminating and cutting and hanging and prepping and copying and begging (my family to help me!!!) and planning!!!

Here is my August Currently:

My B2S must haves- I always always always have a Sharpie on me. Always. 

I cannot say enough about this laminator- it's made my life so much easier! And it works SO well!!! And now I can laminate all my stuff, at home, in my jammies, on my couch, and not worry about my hair getting caught in the big old clunky one (that always works and never ruins my stuff) at school! :)

And my friends- especially school friends who understand just how stressful this time of year is. It's just nice to be working alongside people I consider good friends- it makes going back everyday at 6:30 am not so painful! :)

July Currently

Yipeee! It's time for Farley's July Currently!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading Mo Willem's books out loud in my classroom!!!!! All of them!!! Every single one! The kids adore them every time and I adore how involved they get with these simple, yet hilarious stories!!!!

And Debbie Diller is my go to girl for teacher reads- she's got some amazing ideas- because of her I [finally] figured out how to make work stations WORK in my classroom!!! 

I love this favorite reads because I've gotten some great ideas for both my classroom and go-to teacher books I've gotta check out! :)

May Currently

I've been M.I.A. lately because it's been a mad scramble to get my kiddos prepared for The Test. This mostly consists of me frantically trying to cram as much knowledge into their little brain's as possible, and them just trekking along, with no clue about what's about to hit them (2nd grade is the first year we test in CA). So, there has been nothing fun, or cute, or exciting going on in my classroom lately (poor kids...) 

Anyways.....

I can't believe it's already April!!!! This year is flying by!!!!! Before we know it summer will be here!!! :) I do have to say, though, I am going to be sad to say goodbye to this group of kiddos and send them off to third grade. They are, hands down, the best group of kids I've ever had. Ever.
